Concert Choir and Bach Choir perform with Orchestra Verdi Requiem / Great voices of the soloists
A musical major event was the large audience in the packed St. Nicholas Church to do on Sunday night: Giuseppe Verdi's monumental Requiem for soloists, quartet, choir and orchestra was performed under the direction of Cantor Hartmut Müller .
nearly a year, rehearsing the singers of the choir and the Bach Choir Alzey Worms to this enormous work can now perform. Hartmut Müller had taken over the rehearsals here in Alzey, Ellen Drolet made the singers in Worms familiar with the challenging opus. The soloists were well-known one to win and internationally known singer - with the Heidelberg Orchestra Cantata they found a professional orchestra.
Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" is perhaps the climax of the romantic church music dar. any event, it expresses the deepest abyss of death and the fear of the people from the horrors of a "Last Judgement" in eindringlicher Weise aus, ebenso aber auch die sanften Töne des Lichts, der Hoffnung.
Von den vielen ergreifenden Stellen können nur einige herausgehoben werden: Überwältigend das „Dies irae“, bei dem der stimmstarke Chor und der volle Orchesterklang wirklich die Furcht vor dem Zorn Gottes heraufbeschworen, die Streichinstrumente dabei mit Genauigkeit die halsbrecherischen Figuren meisterten. Oder - neben dem herrlichen „Sanctus“ - das „Libera me“, bei dem die Chorsänger nochmals ihr ganzes Können zeigen konnten: absolute Tonsicherheit, Homogenität in den einzelnen Stimmen, Klangfülle, Genauigkeit in den Absprachen und nicht zuletzt auch Ausdauer, die das over one-hour work necessarily requires.
In "Offertorio" and in the different parts of the "Dies Irae" was the great voices of the soloists shine: Jaqueline Treichler than wonderful lyric soprano led about, but who could also soar to dramatic heights.
